SARANAC LAKE — A second Candidates’ Forum, where voters will have the opportunity to hear from Saranac Lake’s three mayoral candidates, is scheduled for March 9 at the Saranac Hotel.
A new, locally-based good government group is teaming up with the High Peaks Democratic Socialists of America to organize the in-person forum, which will feature mayoral candidates Jeremy Evans, Melinda Little and Jimmy Williams.
The event will be the second candidate forum of this campaign season, the first being a virtual forum co-hosted by the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce on March 1. A recording of this forum is available online at www. facebook.com/adkenterprise and www.facebook.com/slchamber.
The forum organized by Neighbors for Good Gov’t and High Peaks DSA, based in the Tri-Lakes region, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9 at 7 p.m. at the Saranac Grand Ballroom Hotel. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and general admission seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The moderator will be Tim Holmes, a Saranac Lake resident for over 30 years who ran a local research and consulting firm that completed over 60 major projects in a wide range of fields. He recently retired as the Wild Center’s Membership Program Manager, is a founding member of the Kiwanis Club of Saranac Lake, and has been active on the Village Healthy Infrastructure Advisory Council and Friends of Dewey Mountain.
Neighbors for Good Gov’t, based in the Tri-Lakes region, began meeting last fall in the living room of one of its founding members. The group’s main concerns include conflict of interest, favoritism and what they see as a lack of transparency on the part of the Saranac Lake Village government and the mistreatment of residents of the village and neighboring communities by elected.
For those unable to attend in person, the forum will be streamed live via Facebook at www.facebook.com/adirondackindependentnews.
